All About Cole

It's been almost two weeks since we transformed Cole's crib into a toddler bed. It started out rough, got a little better, and remains to go back and forth between good and bad nights. I remain optimistic that soon we will get consecutive full, uninterrupted nights sleep.

After posting a comment on Facebook about what a rough time we were having with Cole sleeping in his bed, a relative suggested the Living Aquarium. Her story was that the aquarium helped not only her daughter but a friends son sleep in their new beds. When I read the word "sleep" and "helped" I jumped on over to Amazon.com and purchased the Living Aquarium.

The aquarium arrived one day just in time for nap time! I immediately set it up on Cole's dresser and talked to him about what his new "fishies" were for. (I also had to explain to Jase how this was not a toy.) Anyway, I plugged this thing in, turned his music on, and left the room with Cole laying in his bed and NOT crying. He never came out of his room and I didn't hear him so after a few minutes I checked on him and he was sleeping! Sleeping, I say! Success!

However, night time is a different story. Not quite the success I had hoped for. He does like to look at his fish but he has a stronger will power than the fish at night and doesn't always let them lull him to sleep. But there are nights were he is so tired and doesn't put up the fight. I love these nights. I also love the nights were he sleeps all night. We get lucky and get one of those about every other night.

Now on to Cole's next adventure. Jumping. Jumping off furniture. Giving mommy mini heart attacks. Cole has discovered that he can jump off the couch and land on his feet. He did get into trouble for this but that did not stop him from doing it again and again. I guess the kid got bored with jumping off the couch that he decided he'd give jumping off the arm of the couch a go. I got to see him in mid action performing this stunt. I literally felt my heart stop seeing this. He managed to land on all fours and with cat like reflexes he jumped up and moved on to repeat his jump. Thank God he did not break a bone....and that I did not die right there were I stood!

Cole is growing with rapid speed. He speaks new words every day and we can actually understand what he's saying. Jase likes this and says he can't wait for Coley to really start talking. Oh, the conversations the two of those will have!

Cole's next big adventure: getting rid of the Bink. We may need to line up counseling for this one.

Stay tuned.
