Trick or Treat with Super Mario Bros.!

This time of year gets so much more fun as the boys get older. Yes, I know I will not say this as the boys approach 16...as I can remember what I was doing on Halloween around my 16th year. Biscuits. That's all I will say. Anyway, this year Halloween was fun. We weren't in NY bundled up and freezing. We weren't  pulling one child (Cole)  in a wagon or pushing him in a stroller. This year, we were fighting mosquitoes, wearing only one layer of clothing, and both boys were willing and able to hoof it throughout our subdivision and ask for candy. Yes, this year Halloween was fun.

The boys decided early on what they wanted to be for Halloween. Considering they love playing their Wii and they love Super Mario Bros., it was no surprise that they chose to be Mario and Luigi. Check 'em out...

Weren't they just the cutest Mario and Luigi you've ever seen? Can't wait to see what they come up with next year.

Ok, now I've got to grab the hubs so we can eat check and hide store all the candy before the boys get to it. :)

Haunted Ship

The hubs and the crew of his boat put their creative minds together and put on a haunted ship for their families and fellow Coasties. I give them props...some really crafty and creepy stuff they came up with. I did walk thru...with ears plugged and all.

I leave you with a pic of me and my hubs in his creepy little get up. I'm not a fan of the scary stuff but I smiled anyway.

Seasons of Mommyhood

Just when you think you've got one part of your life as a mom down pat - BOOM! - you find you're smack dab in the middle of another part. Or season. Or chapter. Or whatever you want to call it.

At one point in my mommy life I had two kids under two and a half. Two kids in diapers. Two kids with binkies. Two kids crying at the same time. And I was lucky to get two showers a week. Crazy life of a mom with babies. You get it. But this part, thank goodness this part is over I got used to and I managed.

Then BOOM! I am thrown into another chapter of my life - being a mom of a preschooler and a toddler. Yikes! Talk about sleepless nights and pee everywhere and the amounts of ingested crayons. I shutter thinking back to those days. And yet they seems like yesterday. Once again, I managed the chaos and became a professional mom juggling doctor's appointments, school (both me and the preschooler), home life, and finding some time for myself. I got this phase of my life down to a T.

Then BOOM!...again. Here I am with a child in kindergarten. He's in real school. The real deal. And that toddler who ate crayons and potty trained himself? Well, now he's the preschooler...attending the school of mom. Here's how this chapter of my mommy life reads: I'm doing kindergarten homework, going to the library, cheering at soccer games, joining the PTO, volunteering, fretting over sight words and reading levels, and wondering if I'm hurting my preschooler by not having him in preschool.

I'm in the learning phases of this part of my mommy life. I'm sure I'll get it figured out soon. I'll feel like a pro again...one day. I hope.

Mom-of-School-Age-Kid Blues

I have the up-and-go-to-Oklahoma-while-Jason-is-gone blues which makes for the Mom-of-school-age-kid blues. It ain't pretty

It has been 4 months since I've been in my home state with my people. It has been almost 3 months since I've gone anywhere. I am getting a little restless. Forget a little...I am a lot restless. With Jase in "real" school now, kindergarten not preschool, the boys and I can no longer come and go as I please. Nope, I actually have to stay home. I have to stay put. School is important after all, right?

I am so looking forward to one random day when school is out and Jason can have a day off from work so we can make a trip to Louisiana. And I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving break to when we make the drive up I-45 and across the Red River. In the mean time I will try and fight the urge to blow off a day or two of school and endure the wait until I can go home.

6 weeks. 6 weeks is going to take forever.  It's only 6 weeks.
