It's That Season

"What season?", you ask. Transfer season. Saying goodbye season. The time of year that most, if not all, military families base their lives around.

The picks were turned in and the waiting began back around November. The new year came and we watched as our friends impatiently awaited the call from the detailer to find out where their new (temporary) home would be. One by one, we are finding out where our friends will be located. Some will stay near and some will be far. I strongly dislike this time of year. I strongly dislike saying goodbye.

I, as the mother, am preparing myself to ready my boys (mostly Jase) for their friends' departures. I have already told them that their friends will be moving this summer, and since I have told them this every time Jase sees a moving truck in front of the building he asks, "Is insert friend's name here moving?" in the saddest little voice ever heard.

So with this transfer season comes more emotions I have to deal with...emotions that aren't mine directly but they are. This summer I am going to have to put my sadness aside and put on a strong front for the sake of my son. This is the first of many transfer seasons for him and I have to find the words to comfort him as watches the moving trucks pull up and pack up his friends.

Did I mention I hate transfer season?
