First Half Marathon: Done!

After twelve excruciating weeks of training to run 13.1 miles, I did! It was amazing! I will never forget the feeling at mile 12 when I saw that last hill I had to run...I wanted to stop and walk but my pride would not let me. I will never forget the feeling of seeing my husband at the last turn, cheering for me, telling me I got this. I will never forget the feeling of crossing the finish line at 2:06:06 and thinking "I did it! Thank you God!" It was an amazing run. Having my family there to support me and cheer me on made it extra special. I will never forget it.

So now that I accomplished that goal, what's next? I honestly do not know. I will continue to run, because believe it or not, I actually have grown a love for running. It is my "me time". For now I am just going to let this accomplishment soak in and enjoy it.

13.1 miles...done!

Only Half Crazy

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is just days away. 3 to be exact. This mom here will be running the half marathon. 13.1 miles. I cannot wait.

My boys asked me the other day why I wasn't running a full marathon. I laughed and told me because I wasn't that crazy, I am only half crazy!

Half crazy indeed.

Stay tuned...

Alone At The Breakfast Table

I do not cook breakfast for my family every single morning. My version of serving breakfast is making sure the coffee pot is programmed and ready to go for the hubs and that I have J & C's fave cereal in stock. Oh, and milk - I make sure we have milk.

Today while having my routine morning telephone conversation with my mom I decided I would cook breakfast. Homemade pancakes, turkey bacon (don't turn up your nose, it really is good), and eggs. The pancakes and bacon for the boys and eggs for the hubs. My boys turn their noses up at eggs. Do not know why. Anyway, I prepared breakfast, set the table, poured the boys their "coffee" (milk - Cole likes to pretend!), and served the boys their food. I was actually excited to sit down and eat my bowl of cereal (Koshi GoLean - love this stuff!) with the boys. Jason was already out the door with his makeshift South Texas breakfast burrito. Just as I sat down they were gone. Plates empty, chairs empty. Just me, my cereal, and cup of coffee. Are you serious?

I had to laugh. That's all I could do really. Because this is what it takes for me to enjoy my breakfast in peace. Why had I not thought of this before?? Being alone at the breakfast table is not all that bad. While I was ready to talk about the day with J & C, they had other plans. Plans to eat their breakfast and be on their way. That's ok with me because being alone at the breakfast table means I get to have my food all to myself. :)

Selfish? Maybe. But in my defense I hardly ever get to eat whatever I'm eating without having to give over half to two ravenous boys.

I must try this again. :)
